Animal Aid Unlimited received word of an injured stray in the middle of a street and set out for rescue. When they arrived on scene they saw that he had severe mange and was emaciated, and an open wound between his shoulders was infested with maggots, writes ilovemydogsomuch.tv
Rescuers caught him with a net so he wouldn’t try and run from them.
They got the dog back to the animal hospital immediately and administered pain meds. Staff was unsure if they could save his life, but they were determined to at least offer some comfort in the end. In the meantime, they would clean and rewrap the wound every day and see if it would heal.
And it wouldn’t be long until the dog turned a big corner! The wound started healing, and he got his appetite back. His fur wasn’t yet growing back in, but in the end he would overcome mange, an infected wound, and starvation like a true fighter! See Antonio now.
