She Peered Through Gate With Sad Eyes After Owner Tied Her Up & Drove Away

Workers from the RSPCA Woodside Animal Center in Leicester, United Kingdom, were taken aback when they arrived at work Wednesday morning, writes ilovemydogsomuch

They were unexpectedly greeted by an abandoned dog who had been tied to the front gate. They didn’t know how long she had been there for, but the dog was visibly relieved to see them and had clearly been waiting there anxiously for a while.

“She was stood with her head pushed through the bars of the gate, her ears back with these big, brown puppy dog eyes,” a RSPCA Woodside Animal Center spokeswoman said in a press release.

Sadly, this abandoned dog, now named Misty, had been neglected for quite some time. She was extremely malnourished with her ribs sticking out on both sides. She also had cuts on her nose and a bad skin condition.

From the looks of her physical appearance, it was obvious that Misty has had a tough life and wasn’t familiar with getting the love she so desperately needed.

The first thing shelter workers did was scan Misty for a microchip. Much to their surprise, she had a chip, but when they called the registered number, they learned that she had been rehired several years prior.

RSPCA headquarters is now investigating to figure out who abandoned Misty there, as this is now a criminal case.

Misty is currently being cared for at Woodside and is receiving proper care to ensure she is healthy both physically and mentally. Once she is ready, she will be up for adoption to find the perfect forever home.

The RSPCA is hoping the public may be able to help with their investigation, and they ask anyone with any information on Misty or who could have left her tied up, to please contact them.
