Family Frantic After Their Puppy Crashes Through Icy Waters On Christmas Day

A family celebrating the Christmas holiday experienced the near-loss of their beloved German Shepherd puppy, Pepper. The 8-month-old pup fell through a sheet of ice on a frozen lake in Blanchardville, Wisconsin, writes ilovemydogsomuch

The lower portion of the pup’s body crashed through the frozen ice and submerged into the icy waters. Pepper was struggling to free herself from the dilemma but was unsuccessful.

Members of the Argyle-Adams Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene and slowly approached the animal who was all too happy to see help arrive.

A very scary moment occurred as the combined weight of the two men caused the ice to crumble beneath their feet. On their hands and knees, they methodically got closer and closer to Pepper.

The duo was able to scoop Pepper up into their arms and allow her to run to the safety of her worried family.

Once the dog was out of harm’s way, the men made their way back to dry land with ropes and help from others on the shore.
