Evicted Man Leaves Pets Behind & Weeks Later Cops Find Most Of Them Dead

When Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania resident Howard Wayne McCloy was evicted from his home recently, he should have taken his pets with him, writes ilovemydogsomuch

The responsible and caring thing to do is make sure your animals are taken care of even if times are tough. There are many resources available for people including shelters and rescue groups that are a phone call away.

Sadly, police say the 34-year-old man left behind a slew of dogs and cats when he was evicted. After McCloy and other residents in the home were evicted, weeks later troopers received a phone call about barking dogs inside the property. Troopers entered the home through an open window and made a gruesome discovery. They found the dead bodies of three dead dogs and two living dogs inside. In addition, two cats were located.

Both of the living dogs are one-year-old Pit Bull mixes who had scars on their bodies, urine burns on their paws and faces, and had no food or water. The two cats seemed relatively healthy considering the conditions in which they lived. The dead dogs were removed and are having necropsies performed on them. McCloy relinquished his rights to the remaining animals to All But Forgotten rescue.

Both McCloy and 33-year-old Lavetta Christine Magee were both charged with neglect of animals and aggravated cruelty to animals. McCloy must pay $8,000 in the judgment of the eviction case.
