Dog Left In Desert By His Owners To Die, But His Sadness Has A Painful Secret

Gershwin, a 110-pound dog, was dumped by his owners in the middle of a desert in a remote part of California, writes ilovemydogsomuch

After 2 months, Hope For Paws received a rescue call about the scared dog from a Good Samaritan, and they immediately set out to rescue Gershwin.

However, Gershwin’s rescue was not easy by any means. He would shiver in fear at the sight of humans and run away. The extreme 107 degrees heat, hunger, thirst, loneliness, and fear had stressed him out beyond limits.

Volunteer Loreta Frankonyte decided to approach Gershwin and win his trust. But even after her gentle coaxing, Gershwin’s fears lingered on as he dragged Loreta around on the ground while attempting another escape.

Despite getting hurt, Loreta was determined to save the helpless pooch. She stooped down to the ground and kept waiting patiently until Gerswin finally gave in to her calming presence. Once he felt safe, he happily hopped into the rescue van back to Los Angeles.

Gershwin was brought to the shelter where Loreta gave him a soothing bath. But in spite of his new safe and happy surroundings, Gershwin always seemed sad and in pain. So, they took him to the vet’s. It was there that they discovered he had a severe shoulder infection that needed immediate attention.

After a painful but successful treatment, Gershwin was put on a recovery program. As he received love and care from his rescuers, he slowly transformed into a loving pooch who wasn’t scared of humans anymore. Now that he is healed, we hope Gershwin finds a sweet forever family that never abandons him again!
